Sometimes I feel like I live in Animal House.

Don’t worry, I’m still alive! I’ve kind of fallen off the face of the earth over the past couple of days, but with good reason. Lots of nutso stuff has been happening around here. Everything is okay now, but we’re a little worse for wear. Ha! Here’s a card that I finally had the chance to finish last night for Heather Pulvirenti (one of my very favorite card makers!)’s Totally Hues Challenge #1. Here are the Papertrey Ink colors for inspiration:

And here’s what I came up with:

Ekkkk! Don’t you just love those colors together? Soooo yummy. Thanks so much, Heather, for posting this gorgeous challenge.

Supplies: Cardstock – Papertrey Ink (Hawaiian Shores, Simply Chartreuse, Hibiscus Burst, Harvest Gold, Stamper’s Select White), Stamps- Papertrey Ink (Signature Series: Flower) and Hero Arts (S5485 Many Petals and CG286 Three Leaves), Ink- Tsukineko (Memento Black) and Ranger (Distress Ink in Mustard Seed, Worn Lipstick, Crushed Olive and Tumbled Glass), White Pen – Signo Uniball, Gems- Kaiser Craft.

Okay, so onto what’s crazy around here. The other day, one of my roommates, Greg, broke his hand when he took a fall on some nasty ice. We didn’t find out until yesterday that he needed surgery to fix it and place pins in it so that it would heal properly. So we this is a common sight around here. Ace bandages and pain killers:

His brother Joe (they’re identical twins) and I been helping Greg out with things around the house because it’s his writing hand that’s broken. WE’ve been pitching in to make food, help type e-mails, and even help him lock the door. It’s been a little crazy. Then today, his surgery got moved up by 2 hours. Call it woman intuition or something else, but something in my gut told me to work from home this morning to be at the house in case I was needed. Lo and behold, Greg wanted to have Joe there but neither of us could get ahold of him. He was working out at the gym and his phone was dead. I was running around like a maniac trying to figure out what to do next, and Trix kept looking at me like this:

“What are you doing, crazy lady? Your manic footsteps are annoying me.” I thought on my feet and was able to call the front desk at the gym and have him paged, then I scavanged for the keys to the car, drove it over to Joe, and Joe dropped me off at class on his way to the hospital. I’m happy to report that Joe made it just in time to the hospital to see Greg go into surgery and let him know everything was okay. I gave Joe my phone for the day so that he could avoid getting lost and could call Greg’s phone if necessary.

Now Greg’s home and doing fine (well, and on some super strong pain killers. Ha!) and is currently sitting in the living room watching Lord of the Rings 1 and deciding what he wants for dinner (which he’s been doing for the past three hours…..). It’s going to be an interesting night.

Hopefully it’ll start to calm down around here so that I can play with this awesome new stamp set from My Cute Stamps that I got in the mail the other day and my (amazing!) Studio Calico February kit. I’m so excited!

Love and hoping for some serious waves of peacefulness to roll over here,

Wow! You’ve had quite the day, indeed! LOVE your card… you’ve got me wishing I hadn’t been so quick to let my Mom have that flower stamp. ;)

  2. When it rains…hang in there. Fast recovery to your friend! Beautiful card! I LOVE how you color flowers w/ copics!

Sounds like you’ve been having a pretty manic time! I’m surprised you manage to fit in any card making at all – it is a beauty ;)
Best wishes to Greg for a speedy recovery

  4. Oh my gosh! You weren’t kidding when you said there was a lot going on in your house! I hope everything will be okay with your roommate’s hand. That sounds like a serious break.

Your card is so pretty, and those stamps are HILARIOUS! I can’t wait to see what you do with them.

Btw, I tried to catch you on twitter, but I thought I’d ask here too: I’m about to place an order at two peas, and I really want to get a couple dye inks. I have none, and I’ve never used any either, with the exception of Tsukineko’s Momento in Tuxedo Black. No colors at all except for Colorbox Fluid Chalks. Anyway, I was going to try Stampin’ Up but I can’t find a demo in my area, so then I thought, what about those Jenni Bowlin inks you’re always raving about? I’ll probably just be able to order a few at a time, so any recommendations which ones to start with? I just ordered my first cardstock sampler from Papertrey. Are there any colors that match really well with their cardstock? I’d appreciate any help you can give me. TIA!

Okay, so I know it’s been years since this post – but I’m playing some serious catchup, and I wanted to let you know that I seriously laughed out loud when I saw that stamp set. TOO CUTE! I may have to hunt them down and see if they are still available….
