Along with the winners post over at the Young Crafters Unite blog, Marie and I wanted to show off some of our favorite entries and share what we love about them. Really, it was hard to narrow them down to only 5 plus a winner, but I don’t think anyone wants to read through a post with 65 projects in it. Hehe. So I narrowed it down by picking the ones that instantly made me inspired to try my hand at something similar to what the creator did.
Thank you ALL for your effort and fantastic contributions to our blog hop over this past week. It means so much to us, and I’m so happy to have done something like this! It was a lot of work but totally worth it for the amount of joy, inspiration and happiness created. I hope you loved it just as much as I did. :) Without further ado, here are my top picks from the hop:
My top choice – #25 Isha!
What I really loved about her card was all of the thoughtfulness that went into it. The layers of ink on the background, the coloring on the dress and the embellishments all coordinate so perfectly. Everything about this card is perfect! As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to make one like it. Make sure to check out her post for more information on this card as well as another card she made for the hop!
And now for the Honorable Mentions in order of the hop. :)
Honorable mention- #18 Kathy Nakata!
What I loved: Her technique to color these adorable Paper Smooches veggies is fabulous! She colored with copic markers first and then added colored pencil over the top. I’ve never tried combining the two like that, and this card really made me want to try.
Honorable mention- #43 Natasha!
What I loved: Her video on how she made this card was super informative and fun. I’m a sucker for videos. ;) Not to mention that the kraft + colored pencil combo is always awesome.
Honorable mention- #46 Deborah Nolan!
What I loved: Deborah’s coloring is always amazing, but there’s something about the way she framed this image with the bubble over top that makes my heart sing. It’s so happy and fun but still elegant. Love!
Honorable mention- #56 Joy Taylor!
What I loved: Joy is the queen of stunning CAS cards, and this is no exception. There are only two stamps used and one color of cardstock on this entire card, and yet it speaks volumes. The colors on the butterfly, too? Absolutely gorgeous.
Honorable mention- #58 Wendy Frederick!
What I loved: The details really make this card. The tiny twine bows, the simple but perfect piercing around the edges and mounting the focal piece on the same color of kraft cardstock all really bring the card together. So lovely.
I hope you came away from the hop as inspired as I am! Now, if I could just find some time to actually sit down and use this inspiration, that would be great. ;) What was your favorite inspiring project on the hop? I would love to hear what your favorites were, too! Don’t forget to check out the YCU blog for the official winners post and Marie’s blog for her favorites.
Thank you so much for stopping by today! I can’t say thank you enough for how happy crafters make my heart. Let’s do this again sometime, okay? ;)
