I Scrapbooked!

Something crazy happened the other day – I actually sat down and scrapbooked. It’s been a while (since I went to Ohio in March on a retreat, I think!), but I’m excited to say that I finally got my scrappy mojo back. I’m also getting ready to put in a huge order of prints from the last 6 months, so I’ll soon have even more material to scrap. This week, I wanted to scrap a couple cute pictures of my cats. Uh yes, I realize that this totally makes me a crazy cat lady. I’m totally over it if you are.

I have some pretty Studio Calico kits from the last few months piling up in my craft space, so I broke into this most recent one first: Boardwalk. I’m loving this color scheme. You can still order the kit at the Studio Calico website if you feel so inclined. Oh, and if you end up subscribing, make sure to mention me as the referral! I think we would both get a $5 gift card or something like that. :)

Here’s the first layout I made. I had lots of fun with the mistable trims and some Bonny Blue Mister Huey. I love the layering!

The hearts were punched with SU! punches, misted with Bonny Blue, added with my ATG and foam adhesive. Then I added some of the glazed brads from the kit for a little more fun.

Oh, and those chalkboard stickers are awesome. They’re from the AC Halloween line, but most of them are very theme-neutral. Love versatile products like that so much.

Here’s a shot of that mistable trim. It took a while to dry, but the look was totally worth it.

I hand-sketched the frame and then cut it out with scissors to mimic the look of the labels and then added some while dots around the edges. And you know Trixie can’t help wanting to know what I’m taking pictures of. Evidence:

This next layout basically revolves around the exclusive SC hexagon paper for this kit. I’m obsessed with hexagons right now, so I love this pattern!

That’s Trixie, Mika and Blue Eyes all up close. Yeah, crazy cat lady here and I’m so okay with it.

Another thing I love about Studio Calico – the exclusive embellishments rock. These chipboard letters were literally made to match the kit, and I love that.

So that’s what I’ve been working on this week. I’m itching to get back to my desk and do some more scrapbooking and stamping (especially since I got some new stamps in the mail today… yay!), but I’ve been feeling really weak and flu-y all day. Not sure what’s up with me, but something seems to be going around lately and I think I’ve caught it. Hopefully it’s just a 24-hour thing and I’ll be better tomorrow. Fingers crossed! I’m hoping to get as much done as possible with my last two weeks of summer. Wishing you a super happy and productive weekend! Be back soon with some more crafty fun. :)

Love,
Britta

  1. I LOVE that you are a crazy cat lady…that means I’m not the only one! =P Here’s a kitty page I did:

Perhaps we should start a blog called “Crazy Cat Ladies Unite!” =)
Love your blog, your cats are adorable, especially that sweetie Trixie!

  2. Gabby

Nice s.b. pages! I especially love the one of all three cats! :)

  3. My Boarwalk kit is feeling lonely on my desk too. I love seeing what you did with it! Loving the scalloped trim and then how you cut the hexagon paper. I scrap my dog so no worries on being crazy.

  4. LOVE your scrapbooking page! Trixie is just too cute! The picture of her with her sleeping with the mouth open a tad and those teeth showing, OMG, adorable! Her paws too! And your other kitties at your other home, they are sooo cute! Are they like Trixie in personality? OMG, they are all so cute! LOL! Love your layout of the page. I think I got that spray mist addiction now. I don’t have any Studio Calico mists, but I have 2 October Afternoon Sprinklers (same type of paint mists) and I was playing with the Paper Doily one last night. It’s a white. I love how it mists on the paper. And Iove the pieces you misted with the Studio Calico mist. More toys, er, products to play with!

I love your layouts! I have not used the mistable scalloped trim yet, but i’m dying to pull it out when i have the right photos and layout in mind.

and if you makes you feel any better, I scrapbook about my rabbits. ha!

  6. Such great scrapbooking layouts! I love the papers and alphabets you used! Just fabulous! =D

  7. Pretty pretty! I suppose I need to try out at least a FEW mists right?! I have never scrapbooked a page in my life…a little nervous to try. I really like the 4 1/2 x 5 1/4 canvas better than the 12×12! But I suppose I could try! :-)

    • Yes you should totally try scrapbooking! It’s now I got started into the papercrafting world, and I love having albums to look back on fun times on. My friends and family love to look at them. Maybe you could start out with the 8.5 by 11 size – it’s closer to the proportions of a card, and you already have all of the cardstock you’d need. ;) And mists are a must! Studio Calico Mister Hueys are amazinggggg.
