Video Tutorial Monday 57 – Woven Ribbon Wedding Card

Hello there! I must say, this week is off to a crazy and not-fun start for me. Between getting a flat on my car (a huge tire weight punctured my tire… so I need to buy a new one), major website issues and still feeling a quite down (re: chemical imbalance); I’m just not feeling it this week. This evening I’m trying my very hardest to turn things around and to make this week right again. I tried a new recipe for Pad Thai that was quite yummy (and I have TON of leftovers because I made the full recipe) and now I’m currently backing up my computer and taking care of some computer work that needs to be done.

Everything seems to be getting back on track as long as I can continue being productive tonight and for the rest of the week. I have my fingers crossed tightly! I’m feeling really optimistic that things are going to turn around, so I’m just praying that these good feelings actually come to fruition. Oh, and I got a huge Simon Says Stamp order in the mail today, so look for that haul video to be up later tomorrow afternoon. At least that’s what I’m aiming for. Ha. Okay, I have several things to share with you today… so bear with me. I promise, it’s all interesting stuff!

1. Video Tutorial Monday

I’m heading over to Wisconsin (my home state) this weekend to attend a wedding as a date, so that should be interesting. I’m excited to get away and to be away from the big city for the first time in several months. I can’t WAIT to see a sky full of stars. They’re my favorite thing about being in the middle of nowhere. :) Anyways, I figured I should make a card to give (it’s Cute Boy’s uncle that’s getting married, so I don’t know if we’re supposed to give a gift or whether his mom has got it covered… does anyone know what the proper rules on this are?) to possibly go with a gift – probably a gift card to target or amazon or something. That’s where this card came from. I don’t really know these people, so I didn’t (and couldn’t) make the card to crazy personal with inside jokes and things like that, so I stuck to simple, elegant and classy. Weaving silk ribbon it is! Here’s the video for this week:

Here’s a better look at the finished card:

And here’s the close up. I loooove the texture that ribbon gives. It looks like I spent so much time weaving those ribbons, but you know from the video that it was really very easy. :)

2. Young Crafters Unite challenge ends in 3 days

There’s still time to join in on our second challenge over at Young Crafters Unite! The challenge is to make a card with a matching envelope and just for adding a link to your project and making sure that you link back to our blog with the challenge graphic in the post, you have a chance to win a $25 gift certificate for Simon Says Stamp! Winners will be announced in just about a week. :) New challenge starts on the 23rd!

3. Lawnscaping Challenge – Dimension Ends soon!

You have until tomorrow night (the 12th) at 11:59 PM to submit a creation to the current lawnscaping challenge all about dimension. Make sure to hop over there and check that challenge out! The next one starts on next Monday. It’s one of my favorite techniques, too. ;)

4. 5 Ways to Use Silk Ribbon – a Mini Class with May Arts

This tutorial that I created went up on the May Arts blog the other day, but I totally forgot to share it until just now. The video tutorial is rather long, but I make 5 cards from start to finish, so I’m donning it a “mini class” and leaving it at that. Ha! I thought this would be the perfect bonus tutorial to share for today. Here’s the set of cards we’re making:

And here’s the video. Enjoy!
