Happy Birthday, Vera! (Card + Video Tutorial)

Today is a special post because it’s about three cool things – a birthday, a tutorial video and an announcement!

Happy Birthday, Vera!

First, I’d like to wish my fellow Lawnscaping DT member, Vera Yates, a very happy birthday! We put together a little post over on the Lawnscaping Blog for her, and here is my contribution:

So happy birthday, Vera! I hope your day is absolutely magical. You’re such a sweetie, and I’m grateful to be on such a fun team with you. Bug hugs to you! MWAH!

A Video Tutorial

I wanted to work on the configurations tray more this week, but I came down with a really bad migraine on Tuesday. Hence, we have a less-intense weekly video tutorial this week. Either way, I like it! I show you how to make Vera’s birthday card step-by-step using a technique that I’m calling Sparkle Stenciling with Distress Inks. It’s so much fun! The type tray will continue next week. :) Enjoy the video!

I have to admit that I’m pretty much in love with the sparkle stenciling. It’s easy, it’s fun and it’s a little bit magical. This card really focuses on those fantabulous Limited Edition Seasonal Summer Distress Inks by Tim Holtz and the awesome Letter Jumble 9 by 12 Dylusions Stencil by Dyan Reaveley (I mispronounced her name in the video… sorry! I’ll get it right next time, promise). Just ink your background very well using a blending tool, place the stencil over it and then spray it pretty well with Perfect Pearls + water in a mister bottle. The effect is gorgeous!

Also, make sure to check out these awesome Spellbinders Edgeabilities Dies, too. I used the Petals set here, but there are a ton of really cute designs out there. Love!

An Exciting Announcement

I have another video to share as well, but it’s not here. It’s on the Lawn Fawn blog! Today, I finially get to share something I’ve been keeping “secret” for several weeks now. This summer, I’m interning at Lawn Fawn. I’m having so much fun working with the Lawn Fawn family, and it’s so fun seeing how everything works behind the scenes! Kelly, Erica and Mike have all be so gracious and fun to work with, and I’m getting college credit out of the whole deal. It’s pretty much a match made in heaven.

As part of my internship, I’ll be doing a fun tutorial bi-weekly on the LF blog. It’s all about mixing up a newly released stamp set with one from a previous release. This week, I’m showing off Sunny Skies and Cruising Through Life. Click here to head over to the Lawn Fawn blog to see the video. Enjoy the tutorial and I hope you’re as excited about this partnership as I am! <3

Thanks so much for stopping by today and making me the happiest crafter ever. My migraine is finally gone, so I’m ready to kick some to-do list butt and finish this week off strong. I hope you’ll join me! Next on the list: make a filming schedule for my next project. Eee!

Love,
Britta

Any chance of “A day in the life of a Lawn Fawn intern” video/vlog? I have always been so curious how things work behind the scenes at a stamp company. I think a lot of people would be really interested.
