Merry Christmas 2012!

Merry Christmas! I’m celebrating with my family this morning with gifts, love and dinner and then driving down to spend the rest of the holiday with Jake and his family. It’s a joyful day indeed! I wanted to share this sweet but simple card with you today, made with this fab Furry Christmas stamp from Simon Says Stamp:

The cute kitty and puppies are paperpieced with the Fa-La-La Petite Paper Pack from Lawn Fawn. It’s perfect because it has just the right amount of little patterns to piece with. Tools that I love for paperpiecing: Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, a Memento Black Marker, Honey Bee Non-stick Scissors, Plus Adhesive and a ZIG Glue Pen. All of these tools make the process a breeze as long as you have the patience to sit there and cut the pieces out. ;)

Little tip: The noses and santa hat trim were stamped on white paper. As a finishing touch, I colored over the paper with a White Gel Pen to add just a little extra vibrance and smooth texture. It really makes those finishing touches pop.

I also wanted to share some pictures from my family’s house. My mom has decorated the house so nicely for Christmas – in a candy theme! I love it.

Our Christmas tree – it stands 9 feet tall (our ceiling is really tall in the living room) and is decorated with candy canes, candy garland, bright and warm glass ornaments and all of our traditional family ones as well.

Here’s a view looking up the tree. It’s so happy and bright! I love my mom’s decorating style.

Here’s the mantle with our stockings ready for Santa to come. My mom knit those a few years back. She’s a woman of many talents. ;) the mantle is decorated with jars of candy, candy cane candles and silver accents. Love!

On our coffee table, we have one of our many Dala horses and a glass dome filled with candy canes.

In our kitchen, there’s a tree with kitchen and Mickey ornaments. My parents (and us kids!) are huge Disney nerds. It’s even where my parents are going for their 25th anniversary.

The view looking out from the kitchen. All of our presents waiting by the tree anxiously to be opened. :)

One more. Here’s a picture of how I wrapped my presents this year. It was really simple, but I’m impressed with how expensive they ended up looking:

I wrapped them with kraft paper from an office supply store using this red star washi tape + packing tape to secure it. Then I taped down a red, glittery floral pick (I bought them all for 70% off at Michael’s last week) with more washi tape to the front and tied a simple bow around the package. It’s really that easy – just a simple bow and then fluff it up. (Wired ribbon is so awesome.) I think I’ll be doing this for all of my gifts from now on – just a change in what I put under the gold ribbon for whatever event the gift is for. Love it!

Love and so much joy,
Britta

Everything looks so pretty. I am glad you are able to be with your family for Christmas. Like your card. Give your furry babies an extra hug for me. Lost my doggie early this year. He was getting up in years and was very ill with his kidneys. Sure do miss him. Merry Christmas.

  2. Your mom rocks. Made me smile big time. And think of Elf. Buddy the Elf would be really happy there :)

  3. Your card is awesome and your parent’s house looks so festive! Love your gift wrap this year! I’m a gift wrap nut, too. I have a whole box full of ribbons and trimmings because I think the present should be as special as the recipient is. :) Happy Holidays, Britta!
