YCU Challenge #17 – Something Sweet

It’s time for another challenge over at the YCU blog! Sorry this post is going up a bit late; I’ve been travelling back to Wisconsin for Christmas and ran out of time to post it. ;) I’ll make it up to you with some pictures at the end of the post!

We’re being sweet this month with candy, cookies and general niceness. I used this opportunity to whip out the brand new Lawn Fawn set – Here’s the Scoop. It’s so perfect for this challenge!

I colored the main ice cream image with copics first and then went over adding a little extra sparkle and flair - Lavender stickles and Glossy Accents on the bowl over V05 and V06 markers, Picket Fence Distress stickles to add an icy look to the RV21, E000 and E35 ice cream, glossy accents over the E29 hot fudge and Christmas Red stickles over the R46 marker on the cherries. I’m loving the glitter + marker combo here!

To add a little texture to the purple background, I stamped my current favorite texture background, Snow Dots in versamark on the purple cardstock; it created a wonderful tone-on-tone look.

Make sure to hop over to the Young Crafters Unite blog for all the details on how to enter your own creation inspired by this challenge theme. I can’t wait to see all of the wonderful submissions for this one!

We are so lucky as to be sponsored by the awesome Simon Says Stamp for this challenge. They are giving one lucky winner a $25 gift certificate to their online store! If you haven’t checked out their online store before, it’s totally worth your time. Thank you so much, Simon Says Stamp!

I couldn’t resist sharing a couple Christmasy photos with you. It’s Christmas Eve and I’m home in with my parents, brothers and kitties in Wisconsin. Before Jake and I drove back to Wisconsin (Jake’s from Milwaukee, so we just drove together), we took one last picture with our Christmas tree – a family picture. :)

I love that we were in our pajamas and completely unmatched. Kind of like our funky Christmas tree. I think it’s a really good portrait for this year – a little disheveled and funky, but loving and happy all the same. I think this will be a new tradition for us – a picture with our tree where we don’t dress up. :)

12-24-12 Leia Under the Tree by Britta Swiderski-1

Leia, Blue and Mika have all been getting to know one another since I got home yesterday evening. They’re getting along surprisingly well, and Leia is loving having all sorts of kitty food to sneak around and eat all day. Ha! She’s a little bugger. ;) I’ll be posting as many pictures as I can over the next few days on my Instagram, so hop over there if you want to see more kitty photos!

Merry Christmas to you and yours, and if you’re not celebrating, I hope you have a great, quiet week! Sending you all lots of love and happiness. Life is good, and I’m so very thankful to spend it with those that I love. MWAH!

Love,
Britta
