Hello from a very chilly Minnesota! It feels like a very chilly -25 degrees Fahrenheit outside at the moment, so I’m absolutely relieved that I didn’t have to leave the house today. Tomorrow, however, I head back to class for the first time in many, many weeks. My fingers and toes are all crossed for an uneventful next 16 weeks!
I’m here today to show you two more cards using the same technique with Distress Markers that I showed you yesterday using the Snow Dots background from Hero Arts and focusing in on a Valentine’s theme. Here’s what I did with the first impression:
I brought out the fab mid-release set (Here’s the Scoop) from Lawn Fawn that is absolutely delicious for Valentine’s Day cards. Some simple copic coloring and a touch of glossy accents over the heart and ice cream adds the perfect level of pizzazz for this card. Keeping the cones on a simple white label shape lets them shine without being overpowered by the happy background.
The second card reveals a little more of the background because it’s a more subtle pattern. I was able to add in several more colors and elements into this one without creating an overly busy card.
My favorite part of this card is the heart (this movers and shapers one from Tim Holtz and Sizzix) + the stitching with the strawberry twine around the outside. This also helps to secure the vellum onto the back of the window.
This card also shows off another stamp from the Hero Arts Luggage Tags stamp set stamped in Wet Cement mid-tone shadow ink. Shhhhh, but this is Jake’s card for Valentine’s Day this year. Even though we’ve been dating for almost a year and a half, this will be our first Valentine’s day together. I was in Spain last year. So technically, we celebrated our Valentine’s day when he came to visit me in March and we went to Paris for the weekend. <3
Thanks for stopping by today and for all of your fantastic comments and tweets lately. You make my heart so happy. :) I’m spending my last day of freedom relaxing with lots of warm beverages and cozied up with blankets and sweatshirts. I’m also working on revamping a *certain* class for release in pdf self-paced class form. Stay tuned for that. I hope to have it done and all pretty for you sooner rather than later!
