For this week’s tutorial, I wanted to break out the distress paints again. These guys are so much fun + I’m really loving layering transparent things lately, so this is what came of that experiment. Enjoy the video!
Here’s a look at the final card. Look at all of that colorful, shiny goodness!
The sentiment is from the KP YOLO stamp set embossed onto a Lawn Fawn Stackables Star die cut from thick vellum. Don’t get mad at me if I use this die set on every card for the rest of my life, okay? ;) And I’ve decided these star embellies from Studio Calico are winners for sure. Gold? Stars? Glitter? What’s not to like?!
As you see in the video, I was going to use the yellow We R Memory Keepers washi sheets, but the gold pattern from Lifestyle Crafts ended up looking a whole lot better. It’s all about experimenting and trying to find a pattern that works with the background. I honestly didn’t even know this technique was going to work, so I was pleasantly surprised at how lovely the background ended up. It reminds me of a Californian sunset.
I hope you’ll give this technique a try in your crafty time this week. Think of trying out different washi patterns or vellum with white embossing or dry embossing to create different effects. I know what I’m going to be playing with later today! Thanks so much for stopping by today. Back to the studio I go to work on several projects for you! I can’t wait to share. :)
