Here’s a look at the finished cards in all their fun glory:

07-03-13 Stars and Celebrations by Britta Swiderski-11

Okay, I promise next week’s video tutorial won’t involve any gold. What can I say? I have a problem. ;) I can’t help it. The gold paper from Silhouette and the KP gold sequins add so much flair to this card.

The first card is festively ready for the 4th with stamped fireworks in Hero Arts Mid-Tone Red Royal and Cornflower.

07-03-13 Stars and Celebrations by Britta Swiderski-9

The Puffy Star Stackables make the perfect window and frame to accent the patterned background. Be still my heart, puffy stars!

07-03-13 Stars and Celebrations by Britta Swiderski-10

On the other card to be used year-round, I used Mid-Tone ink in Bubble Gum, Fresh Peach and Mint Julep. This retro color combo is one of my favorites right now.

07-03-13 Stars and Celebrations by Britta Swiderski-7

To mix things up a bit, the sentiment is from the Lucky Stars stamp set, also from Lawn fawn. That’s such a useful little set with the star dies.

How it works: All you have to do each day to enter is answer the question of the day. Of course, you could be fabulous and spread the word to your facebook friends, twitter followers, etc. by sending them to my blog as well. That would be really cool of you! You can leave a comment (just one comment, please – only the first one will count) until the end of July 7th, 2013. I’ll be drawing, notifying and posting the winners sometime on Tuesday, July 9th. All winners will be randomly drawn using a number generator. International entries are welcome. If you’re under 18, please be sure to have the permission to enter from your parent/guardian(s) since you will have to give me your address so I can send you the goodies!

Here’s the question of the day:

What’s your favorite crafty trend right now?

My answer: Gold anything! This doesn’t stop at my embellishment collection; I’ve been collecting gold jewelry, accessories and decorations for around my apartment for a couple months now. It’s so funny how metallics come around like this. Long live the gold! ;)

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I’ll see you tomorrow with another giveaway and some more celebrating. Have a happy and safe holiday, fellow Americans!

Love,
Britta

I am just loving the white unibal pen outlining colored images on craft cardstock making the image really stand out

  2. Shaughn

Good Morning Britta! I absolutely love your cards! Fabulous! I’d have to say that the crafty trend I’m really enjoying is the gradient and chalkboard techniques! I loved your video tutorials on the gradient stamping! I was so inspired by it that I had to purchase the Mama Elephant stamp set you had used! I LOVE it! Thanks so much for sharing!

  3. Naomi Rozen

Have to admit one of mine is gold too always have been a silver girl but love me some gold wright now it looks so elegant. The second one is pastels in scrappy stuff but also outside the craft world (bags, shoes, clothes anything you can think about). The last one is fruit this only outside the crafty world but it is really an obsession. Make a smoothie each day keeps the dokter away. Not true in my case but I am trying.

  4. Regina F.

Those cards look great! Love them!

I’ve been obsessed with vintage lately. Almost every time I’m working on something I try to make it look vintage without noticing. And it’s been fun because this is not usually my style.
    Thanks for the giveaway! :)

  5. redgemva

I just love your card and you’re right I hadn’t noticed the set from LF. I will have to investigate getting it! My ideal crafting trend right now is to do abstract art. I love watercolor images so I’ve been collecting stamps that include blotches, drips and sketch images and using it with soft shadow inks.

  6. Melissa maxwell Doherty

I love love love black and white graphics with bright colors alongside as bling. The contrast just works. The interplay of black and white strips with yellow and orange circles kinda makes my day.

  7. Ann Marie

I think my favorite trend is neon, especially pink. And since I’m wearing that color today, it’s a non-crafty trend too. Neon makes me think of sunshine, and I always like sunshine.

  8. Moid

My favorite crafty trend is pairing grey with other colors (like teal) and using hero arts ink

  9. Loly Borda

Lovely cards Britta! Love those puffy stars.
The crafty trend I like most nowadays are gold and ombre. Thanks for the chance!

  10. Angie Hall

  13. Heather I.

Ooh my favorite trend right now is still using banners on cards. And mist, I love the altered look it gives them. I’m also really into art journaling. Using all of those different mediums and techniques (along with the free -kinda- therapy it gives me) is just really fun to me right now.

  14. Cynthia J. Miller

What I like trendy now is using HA Shadow Inks……..the colors are so soft and yummy colors!

  15. diana

  43. Kimberly Davis

Sequins!!! I am addicted! I remember being in love with sequins back in my childhood when my grandma would make Christmas ornaments with them and pin sequins onto styrofoam balls and other shapes. I am so glad they are back!

I have to say my favorite “trend” right now is stamping onto patterned paper and paper piecing the images together on a card or page. This was just covered in the Inked class that I am taking over on Studio Calico too. Hope you have a great 4th :)

Loved you cards…My fav crafty trend right now is……..the resist technique…I’ve been doing it on everything…lol sometimes with great results sometimes not so much!!!!! I do want to say something about you cards, I love that you show a duo purpose for the stamp set…sometimes I cant see the forest for the tress, and I buy and set of stamps and think I can only use it “this way”. 74. I’m loving the look of ombre lately, but haven’t really done much with it myself. I think the task of sorting through my ink selection to find three or more colors that are close enough to eachother only being darker and lighter, is really daunting for my perfectionist brain…

  75. Brenda H.

Hmm…what’s my fav crafty trend? Well, I have to say I’m really into coloring (water pencils or alcohol markers)…Probably past the trend huh?! Hahaha. However, I’ve really enjoyed your use of gold accents! You’re so inspiring! :)
