Summer Celebration Week!

Happy hello! I hope you’re ready for a week of celebration and excitement. I know it’s a celebratory week in both Canada (Canada Day on the 1st) and the USA (Independence Day on the 4th), so I hope we can all bring even more party to this week by celebrating creativity here on the blog. I’ll have a new post for you each weekday this week, and I can’t wait to share with you all of the things I have planned!

Here’s the first project I’m sharing this week. A cute little thank you featuring some of my favorite puppies from the new Lawn Fawn Critters at the Dog Park + the corresponding dies. I’m going to let you in on a little “secret”: Jake and I have had puppy fever for approximately a year and a half. Every time we see a dog out in public, it’s hard not to squeal and run over to pet it immediately. Seriously, we took Leia to the vet for a check-up yesterday and saw a chubby corgi, a gorgeous golden retriever and a BABY dachshund. I just about died. So I can definitely see a pup joining our little family some time in the future. For now, though, Leia (and our wallets and our landlord) is happy being the only pet around here. For now. :)

These critters + dies make copic coloring and then cutting out the shapes SO ridiculously easy. I love it. I didn’t do any fancy techniques here on the coloring. The lab is one solid color (Y21), the dachshund is covered in little dots of E35 for a nice subtle texture, and the scotty dog is mostly T6 with some T7 over the top in fur-like strokes to have a more curly texture. It’s been a while since I’ve used copics on a card to actually color, so this card was a fun one.

A simple gradient of YG23, YG25 and YG17 in the “thanks” stamped with Quinn’s Capitals adds some nice grass for the dogs to play on, and some Lime Bakers Hemp from LF adds a great little accent across the bottom of the card.

Okay, who wants a puppy now? Me! Meee! Hehe. :)

Here’s a look at today’s fab giveaway. There will be one each day – read below for entry instructions! A big thanks to Lawn Fawn for sponsoring this giveaway (they provided some of the items, and I paid for others). Love you, LF!

How it works: All you have to do each day to enter is answer the question of the day. Of course, you could be fabulous and spread the word to your facebook friends, twitter followers, etc. by sending them to my blog as well. That would be really cool of you! You can leave a comment (just one comment, please – only the first one will count) until the end of July 7th, 2013. I’ll be drawing, notifying and posting the winners sometime on Tuesday, July 9th. All winners will be randomly drawn using a number generator. International entries are welcome. If you’re under 18, please be sure to have the permission to enter from your parent/guardian(s) since you will have to give me your address so I can send you the goodies!

Here’s the question of the day:

What crafty project are you working on right now?

My answer: Besides planning for this week on my blog, I’m really enjoying working on my next class to share with you. More details about that on Friday. Eek!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I’ll see you tomorrow with some KP love!

Thanks for your blog, Britta. You’re such an inspiration!

  52. Joan

Thanks for the cute card idea. Currently I’m working on a mini book- “Moments with Theo” made to keep at my house for my youngest grandchild whom I babysit part time, to look at when at my house. It is quite simple in design with my major concern being semi-childproofing as he is not quite 2, but loves looking at pictures of himself.

  53. Melissa Mauri

Scrapbooks, so many scrapbooks. I started scrapbooking when my youngest daughters were graduating high shcool and now they are finished with college! I have so many photos to scrap I’ll never catch up. Also started making cards for OWH, so your videos are great inspiration for a creatively challenged person like myself. I see so many cute stamp sets, and wonder what to do with them. Thank you for sharing your creativity!

I’m always working on cards. Some friends and myself do our own challenges. One of us gets to pick a challenge every 2 weeks. It’s a great way for to try something new or to use products we may not get out as often as others!
