Fall Makes Me Smile

Hello, beautiful blog readers! It’s really feeling like fall here in Minnesota, and I couldn’t be any more happy. Bring over my friends and put a hard cider in my hand and I’ll be the happiest girl on the planet.

I have a simple but sweet card for you today, focusing in on beautiful fall colors:

09-18-13 Makes Me Smile by Britta Swiderski-1

The Lovely Mum stamp set from Mama Elephant. The solid shape of the flowers and the outlines are separate, you can offset them and really create a lovely screenprint-like look. I stamped the flowers in some of my favorite mid-tone shadow inks: Fresh Peach, Pale Tomato and Butter Bar. I stamped the middle flower first and then masked if off with masking paper before stamping the other two. I love how a simple layered image brings in so much depth to a composition.

The sentiment is from my favorite fall-themed stamp set, Hello Fall by Kelly Purkey.

Things are going very well around here. I’ve had a significant epiphany about my career path (I now have a better idea of what kind of places I want to look into!) and am almost done with the dining set. The chairs are painted and waiting to be sealed and they are BRIGHT. The kitchen shines even at night with these happy colors. Yippee!

By the way, if you’re in the midwest and are planning on coming out to Scrapfest at the Mall of America, make sure to stop by and say hi to me and the Lawn Fawn crew at the Lawn Fawn booth. I can’t wait to meet some of you!

Thanks for stopping by today to say hello, and thank you all for your fantastic feedback on my table refinishing post. You guys rock, and I’ll be sure to post more of my DIY home projects. Mwah! See you again soon!

Good morning Britta! Sweet card (as always)! I’ve been to ScrapFest the past two years (in fact, that’s how I found your blog. Three years ago, when I was trying to get an idea of what SF was like, and what I should plan on bringing, I found your blog post of your SF haul, and pictures of the event, and I was so impressed, and I loved your video so much, that I’ve been a faithful follower ever since! HA!). However, this year, it’s just not going to happen. It’s a lot of money for me to get there from Colorado, so maybe next year…. Maybe I’ll see you at CHA Winter instead! XXOO from CO!

Beautiful card! I really miss you when you do not blog. You are so energetic and enthusiastic that I realized I am disappointed when there is no daily blog post from you. I have watched all of your videos, and I love all of the demonstrations and creative ideas that you share. I hope there will be more and even more! I live on the east coast and cannot get to ScrapFest.
