I’m Starting My Christmas Presents Today.

I decided to get a start on my Christmas presents today and start my annual card sets that I’ll end up giving to my mom, grandma, and a couple other people. The goal here is to complete 4 sets of five super-sendable cards… No bulk or extra postage required. These cards will be clean and simple so that I can easily do the same thing on all four at once. First, I cut out my card bases out of 10 sheets of paper- 4 card bases per color.

{Holiday Card Set 2010 Products}

  • Cardstock: Harvest Gold, Spring Moss, Simply Chartreuse, Aqua Mist, and Blueberry Bliss (for card bases and accent colors), Vintage Cream (neutral color)- Papertrey Ink
  • Ink: Spice Tin from Jenni Bowlin Studios – Ranger
  • Stamps: Signature Series November by Dawn McVey – Papertrey Ink
  • Pens: Gold, Silver, and White Signo – Uniball
  • Corner Rounder: Corner Chomper – We R Memory Keepers

Here’s the first card of the series:

Here’s a close-up of the sentiment from the “Butterfly” Signature Series set:

Additional supplies: Die- Victorian Lace Border (Papertrey Ink).

Here are the 4 cards together. The super simple design helped me get the four done very quickly.

Today’s page is all about how to “de-stress” from my week, I decided to launch this website last night. It was a good night doing things that I wanted to do just for the heck of it. Close-up:

And I love this instax picture on the page:

Tonight, I get to see my boyfriend for the first time in a few days (we’ve been super busy with work and haven’t had time to see each other at all) and eat some pizza. Yum! Be back tomorrow with some more scrappy things. I’m hoping to finish off a page I’ve been working on for two days tonight; I just can’t seem to find the right finishing touches. Hoping they come to me soon!

Love and Craftiness,

Welcome to My New Site!

Hi everyone, and I’m glad you got over here from my old blogspot blog just fine. :) Remember to add my new RSS feed to your google reader (hit the handy button to the right of this post) and to update any bookmarks you may have from my old address to my new one: http://www.brittaswiderski.com. I will be leaving up the site as is, so if you have any links that link back to any of my posts, they will still work- so no worries about that.

Okay, so this is a new thing for me. My own website. My own domain name. Why Britta versus Brit? Well, Britta is my full name and I like it. Most people who know me call me Britta, but one of my nicknames is Brit. I like both names and will respond to both, but I thought Britta was just more “me” and a good thing to build my website around. So that’s that. I also have britswiderski.com, so that reroutes here. That way if you ever type in my nickname instead, you’ll still get here. :)

I would love to hear your feedback on the website. What do you think? Is there anything that’s not working for you? I do have plans to add my resumé in a tab above as well as links to my must-have products for easy reference. I also switched my twitter background and youtube channel pages to stick with the same feel as my blog. I’m so excited and would love to hear what you would like to see on here.

I didn’t want to stop by without sharing something scrappy with you. I’ve completed my first two days of my December Daily. They’re simple and sweet, and that’s how this project is going to be… something that I can get done daily in 15 minutes. That’s what will work for me.

It’s friday night, so I’m going to relax, scrapbook, and try to de-stress from my week. It’s been a long one, and next week will be a lot of the same craziness. I might also hang out with this little pumpkin:

My December Daily 2010 Cover.

The other day, I sat down and got to work on my cover for my December Daily. (If you want to learn more about this project, you can read my post here or go over to Ali Edwards’ blog here.) I’m getting more and more excited to get started on this album when I get home from Wisconsin. My Instax Mini is waiting for me to start clicking away, and I picked up some binder rings (1.5″ and 2.5″) to hold my book together. I pulled out my Circa 1934 6 x 6 pad, cut out some strips of my favorite patterns (two red, and one black), and got out some stickers from October Afternoon and chipboard numbers from Basic Grey’s Oliver collection. Here’s what I came up with:

11-24-10 December Daily Cover-1

I inked the edges and chipboard with Vintage Photo Distress Ink to keep with the look of the rest of the album.

11-24-10 December Daily Cover-2

Supplies: Patterned Paper- Cosmo Cricket (Circa 1934 6 x 6 pad), Letter Stickers- October Afternoon, Chipboard Numbers- Basic Grey, Ink- Ranger (Vintage Photo Distress Ink).

I’m on my way to Illinois to have Thanksgiving dinner at my grandparents’ house. Let’s hope the “too much family” aspect doesn’t get too out of hand. Whenever we visit my grandparents, things always seem to go a little crazy. Ha. Happy almost Thanksgiving to my American friends! I’m going to try and make this Pumpkin Bread Pudding from the Pioneer Woman and Bobby Flay battle. It looks delicious, so I hope it turns out well. I consider myself a good cook, but baking doesn’t always work out for me. My brother who’s in culinary school right now may need to come to my rescue. I’ll let you know how it goes ;)
